Semrush
High-Velocity Creative Production
Client: Semrush, a big marketing analytics platform.
Animation Studio: Blaster
Goal: to increase brand awareness and highlight the breadth of the marketing toolkit for businesses of all sizes.
Challenge: to produce 3 animation videos per month in a small team of 6. The hard part was also that the topics across the videos were inherently similar, yet each piece needed to feel visually distinct and conceptually unique. That was fun though!
My role as a director: to transform complex digital terms and interfaces into clear, dynamic visual stories — and to do it consistently, at scale.
My areas of responsibility:
- Develop the creative concepts
- Define the visual direction
- Create the storyboards
- Direct the team
- Review the animation
- Ensure brand consistency
I structured the process so the team operated as a single mechanism, working asynchronously on multiple videos at the same time.
The result was a successful, emotional series of films rich in visual metaphors that the client really liked.
Assets and the results:
Semrush as a Multi-Armed Assistant
A Skyscraper Called Marketing
A Website Glow-up Moment
Launching your own agency as a retro video game
Busy Working Marketer
Marketing as a large-scale construction site
The scariest SEO story for Halloween: the last page of Google
Illustration, motion design, and final assembly were executed by other amazing artists — my colleagues from the Blaster team.
